  • Solid construction
  • Long service life
  • Maintenance free

The efficient and rapid laboratory screening machine for the grain trade, stores, maltsters, breweries, laboratories, and mills.

Sorting Process

A cleaned sample of 100 g to be weighed on a balance accurate to 0,01g and then placed onto the top sieve. The sieving period can be set from 1 to 9 minutes. For the sorting of cereals, we recommend a sieving period of 3 minutes. Press the start button. The Sortimat separates the sample into single fractions by uniform vibrating motions. When the screening process has finished the drawer with the collection trays for the single fractions must be placed in position. Tilt the sieve stack and open the slide.

The fractions of the sample fall directly into the collection trays. Grains which perhaps remained on the sieve slots are completely removed by means of the sieve cleaner. For this purpose, the handle must be pulled upwards and pressed downwards. It is not necessary to open the sieve stack for the cleaning. Remove the drawer for weighing. The next screening process can already be started, while the results of the first sorting are weighed. With a weighed batch of 100g, the percentage proportion is then obtained by weighing the individual fractions. The SORTIMAT gives good reproducible results.

Official Methods

The Sortimat is suitable for carrying out the sorting (according to EBC-method, MEBAK 2.3.1) and for determination of the boldness of brewing barley. It supports the Besatz determination (according to ICC standard 102/1 and  103/1) of wheat, barley and rye. Further possible applications are the control of pre-cleaning machines and vacuum dust extraction plants.

Accessories

A sorting device for round and broken corns for wheat resp. barley can be supplied optionally. This device with milled slots sorts the broken corns out of the sample. The sorting device is simply inserted into the feed opening and held by means of a belt (see photograph overleaf). The grain supply can be regulated.

For sorting malt a double cup is available as an option.

The sieves are interchangeable and can be supplied with different perforations (round perforation or slots). For the control of the slot widths, a certified precision gauge can be supplied.

Precision balances with different capacities and readouts are available as options.

Several thousand machines are already in use worldwide with great success.
